Passion for Arts & Crafts

Westerwald clays have been processed into both decorative and utility ceramics for centuries. These days almost all craftsmen and craftswomen use proven standard blends, and do not carry out their own clay-processing. These standard blends are available as ceramic bodies ready for use. Witgert was one of the first clay mining companies to introduce this type of ceramic body into the market.

Today the user can choose from a standard selection of over 100 different types. The product range contains bodies with fired colours in white, red, black, extra black, brown, leather-coloured, yellow, cream-yellow/grey, anthracite and Indian Summer. All ceramic bodies are available either free of chamotte or in various degrees of chamotte-formation, also including bodies for sculpture (60% chamotte 0-5 mm), as well as for slip-casting. Bodies with special effects are also available: with spots, and with effects as cork, confetti or Super Nova (marble). Specialities such as porcelain bodies and paper clay complete the full programme.

If, however, you don’t find what you’re looking for, special blends and ceramic bodies can be developed for your needs. An intensive network of dealers makes local delivery possible.

School & Hobbies

Those ceramic bodies used for Arts & Crafts also find application, by their very nature, in schools and at home. Plastic and liquid bodies, ready for use and individually packed in 10 kg clots, are available everywhere in specialist stores, also in small quantities.
